Before I bought some different winders I used to keep mine set on "C", which I believe is the 6 min/hr setting (though it might be the 9 min/hr - all I remember was keeping it on "C"). I did some experimentation and found that this setting was providing just enough movement to keep my Bond SMP fully wound. It wasn't overwinding but it wasn't underwinding either, it was just right.
