I have an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Model (2517.50). The original clasp had a single, tiny screw that prevented the clasp from fully opening up; this screw has fallen out multiple times on me over the last four years. This design is flawed. I just got off the phone with the repair center in Los Angeles and they said a new clasp, labor, and shipping would be $167.56. I asked about the new clasp and they said it would be the exact same one with the same flawed screw design. I called the Beverly Hills repair shop and they said, yes, it will be the same clasp; there is no other clasp for this watch.
I asked about the design and was told that there have been issues (I haven't found anyone mentioning this online) but this is the design Omega uses. When the watch is assembled they use some glue on the screw to make sure it doesn't fall out. Glue! On a $2000 watch. I asked why it wasn't done like this at the factor and he said that I have to keep in mind that the factory is producing hundreds of watches at a time. Why the hell am I buying a $2000 for a watch if not for quality?!
Has anyone else had problems with their watch clasp falling apart because the screw that prevents the clasp from sliding all the way open has fallen out?
I am extremely dissatisfied with Omega right now.
