This could have been my best buy ever !!!!
In Response To: Maiden bid watches ()

This fantastic find on a buy it now eBay listing made my day :

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250430902304&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp3907.m38.l1313%26_nkw%3D250430902304%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

Sadly the seller has returned my payment claiming the listing is an accidental 2nd listing of an item already sold. I am "In the process" of trying to find out what happened & why i'm not the happy owner of this classic 2444 A & F Seafarer.
My thoughts are the seller may not have been aware of the Seafarer's value when making the listing but then later found out after i had bought it.

Keep your fingers crossed for me - Darren

: How's this for a theme? Watches you have won on a maiden bid, i.e.
: you were the only bidder on a watch and won it on your first
: bid. It happens sometimes, for whatever reason nobody else seems
: interested or has spotted the watch - it can be a sign that
: there is something wrong, but can also simply be something that
: has slipped under everyone's radar for whatever reason. Maybe
: the seller misspelled "Heuer" or listed it as
: something or somewhere strange.

: As it happens so rarely for a good watch, it's a particularly
: satisfying feeling :)

: Here's my favourite maiden bid watch:

:

: I'd been watching it since it was put up, came in at the end and
: was surprised to see there was no competition whatsoever. Ok,
: these Twins might be a bit niche but with the desirable black
: dial and listed as "HEUER Carrera Chronograph vintage
: Sammleruhr", I'd expected to have to put up more of a
: fight!

: So anyone else have a watch or watches won with maiden bids? Or
: maybe a Buy-It-Now at an incredible price, or a watch that sat
: in a dealers and was picked up for a snip?
