Longines: Is the Brand Under-Appreciated? And Why?

Over the last few days, I have been looking at some of the vintage Longines chronographs. To me, they seem to be under-appreciated in the vintage watch world. Here is a brand that:

  • made some legendary in-house movements, 13ZN and 30CH, for example
  • had some great looking designs in the 1950s / 60s / 70s
  • has timed the Olympics, the Tour de France, auto rallies and other important sports events
  • even had its decals on the Ferraris.
In the world of vintage watch collecting, why don't we hear more about this brand? Or maybe others are hearing about Longines, but I am just missing it?

Thoughts?

Jeff
