Hi V

The Rolex vs Omega doesn't date from today it dates from the thirties when Omega introduced the 30t2 and Rolex the cal Rolex Hunter both were unmatched champions at chronometric competitions with the zenith 135.
Rolex and Omega were at their biggest summist of rivality in the 50's till the late 70's.Omega even beat Rolex in terms of chronomters produced from 1908 till 1974. After 1975 things were not so good for many prestigious brands some disappeared, some merged and lost their manufacture status and became assembleurs.
The prices with Rolex were always high even in the past but they went insane when the price for their vintage iconic model skyrocketed. Every year Rolex price grow up from 20%,that is too much and I am not mentioning that when it coems to repair sometimes Rolex Service Centres have noobs instead of qualified personnel.
However one mustn't forget that Rolex made the first fully unidirectional rotor selfwinding watch official certified chronometer with a jeweled pivot winding system in 1931 and this 17 years before eterna made its first ball bearing rotor system (1948).Rolex also invented the most secure crown system and a very efficient case back. Some people like and other people hate the Rolex brand. However in terms of movement, the Rolex 3135 is a proven reference.
Omega always manufactured sober and very accurate watches. The 2500 is based on the 1120 one of the very best modified eta 2892-a2 even tough not modified by Omega themselves. You will also note that the balance wheel with the precision adjusting screws is very inspired from the microstella balance wheel invented by Rolex in 1957.The coaxial is a new caliber and nicely finished.Precision is excellent and power reserve is fine. The coaxial has a three warranty not the case of the rolex who has only two.
Good luck in your purchase

regards

georges
