Re: manufacture vs assembleur
In Response To: manufacture vs assembleur ()

Dear George
Thanks for your comments.

Let me state some nasty ideas:

Omega have "inhouse movements" too. ETA belong to the Swatch Group and Omega too. OK, this view is not fully differentiated, however you cannot disqualify a movement just based on the fact, that it is ETA-produced or that it is produced by an "external" company.

Yes, I believe, that you are right: Rolex have a very long feedback when it comes to movements.

Look, the car industry sometimes releases statistics in favor of a certain brand if it comes to reliability: E.g. which car brand suffers from the least amount of service/failure stops during a certain period. Now what I would be interested in is to scan all watch forums and count up all posts and questions which are in connection with a watch repair or error. And then you might have split up the questionary in different caliber types (oder ones, newer ones etc.). This might lead in a quite representative random check.

I Omega offered me a good deal of money, I would be happy to do such a study.
